Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Princess Margaret Showhome in Oakville. In a sentence I might describe the space as laid back opulence. A grande home with soaring ceiling heights, wide hallways and striking architectural details, that was light on fussy furnishings and accessories. Below are just some of the pics I snapped of my favorite features. Enjoy!
Understated neutral furniture let this stunning stone fireplace steal the show.
A non traditional kitchen layout. You won’t find stools at this island clad entirely in marble, instead a cozy seating area with a sofa and chairs is set just to the right.
Ink blue is the new black. The ink blue accent colour used in the dining room is the perfect combination when set against the neutral, distressed furniture.
Located in the basement, this room really spoke to me! An entire room devoted to crafts and sewing.
Also located in the basement this kitchen is positioned directly beside the the entertainment/tv room. Perfect for easy popcorn refills.
Check out the pillar detail and square spindles. The black rubbed finish on the spindles is carried throughout the home and is definitely a trend I am embracing. Did you notice the floor? Looks like hardwood right? Nope, it’s tile! The finish is similar to a white washed oak.. and with the exception of it being a little colder on the foot it looks just like hardwood.
I love the idea of taking an ordinary tile and creating an extraordinary pattern. In this case a simple slate tile is installed in a herringbone pattern with a border detail.
The neutral laid back elegance theme is carried into the master bathroom.
Close up shot of the curtain panels in master bedroom. The drapery treatments through out the home were luxurious and definitely another one of my favorite features.
Congrats to the Team at Canadian House and Home for creating such a magnificent space. The space is now open for public viewings and tickets for this beauty are officially on sale.
